sportbox competition supported by Bourke Sports
Sports clubs and charities that are making a real impact and difference in their local community could be in line to win free kit following the launch of a new competition. The ‘sportbox’ initiative is the brainchild of Manchester-based sportswear designer Kate Kent, and it has partnered with kit manufacturer Bourke Sports to support the competition. One full set of new sportswear, worth around £1000, will be awarded to a team, club or group every three months over the next year.
ConnectSport CIC has helped to design the competition, and support it online. Read the full story.

Power of Sport: University of Bath film festival
In their final year of the BSc Sport Management and Coaching degree, students at the University of Bath were tasked with producing short films tackling sensitive issues, and using sport as a tool for social transformation.
The challenge required students to engage with the public and explore the lived experiences of those directly affected by these issues. The result was a compelling series of three-minute documentary films advocating for positive change through sport, addressing topics such as serious youth violence and crime, parental pressure, mental health, and gambling.
ConnectSport CIC supported the film festival by providing guest lectures, support and advice to the students, and hosted the films on a bespoke microsite. Read the full story.

Stronger Communities Through Sport
ConnectSport worked with the Mayor of London on this campaign to showcase and support local groups using sport and physical activity to benefit their community. Organisations were invited to submit a short video to raise the profile of their work. Throughout the campaign six organisations were selected to receive an award of £250.

Debbie Weekes-Bernard, Deputy Mayor of London for Social Integration, commented: "We are interested at looking at using sport to tackle social isolation, to improve mental health, to create a healthier and more engaged city, but also to create some of those links and connections between people from very different backgrounds. It’s a great way for us to achieve some of the outcomes that we have set ourselves for tackling some of those big issues."

London Sport Satellite Clubs
London Sport commissioned ConnectSport to produce 10 video case studies to tell the stories of the impact of the 'Satellite Club' funding programme on the lives of the young people it aims to reach. The case studies ranged from Goals4Girls to Skates Dagenham, and from Croydon Auto Bikes Scheme (CABS) to CARAS (Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers).

London Marathon Charitable Trust
The London Marathon Charitable Trust provides funding to inspire thousands of adults and children across the UK to be active for life.
The Trust was seeking applications to improve facilities in its core areas of London and Surrey to encourage and support all members of the local community to become and remain physically active.
ConnectSport CIC provided content and communications services for the Trust to help community organisations find out how they could apply for a grant.

“In the busy and often challenging world we all live in, resilient mental health is so important. Sport and physical activity can provide this and so much more,” - Ian Boyd, CEO, Notts County FITC.
