Sport for Change Cities

Let's change the narrative from 'what's wrong' to 'what's strong'...

Sport for Change Cities is dedicated to showcasing and sharing the people, projects and places across numerous UK towns and cities that are using sport and physical activity-based interventions to drive positive social, health, environmental and economic change. Our mission is to bring organisations together - across different sports and locations, faiths and ethnicities; to increase investment and awareness, and build advocacy for their vital work.

The pilot programme for Sport for Change Cities is taking place throughout 2026 in Wolverhampton. This West Midlands city is consistently ranked among the most deprived local authorities in England (around 24th out of 317) due to issues like poor health, employment, income, education, crime, and housing access, with significant percentages of its neighbourhoods falling into the most deprived 10% nationally. Find out how local groups and charities are using sport and physical activity-based interventions to address some of these issues.
