Parkinson’s UK is offering grant funding of up to £3000 to sports and community organisations which can help people living with the condition to become more physically active.
Organisations ranging from community groups to sports bodies and clubs have until November 15 to apply for support from the charity’s Physical Activity Grants programme, which is now in its fourth year.
Since 2021, more than £554,000 has been awarded to 242 projects across the UK. Previous activities and initiatives to have received funding range from wheelchair rugby to table tennis and from walking football to hydrotherapy sessions.
Roma Hashim, Physical Activity Grants Manager for Parkinson’s UK, told well-nation.co.uk: “Through the grants, we hope to be able to help even more people living with Parkinson’s to enjoy an active lifestyle with the condition.
“Whether you are part of a national sports association, you work with a local exercise group, or you are passionate about getting people active then why not apply for the grants in 2024.
“There are more than 40 symptoms associated with Parkinson’s and being active can be one of the best ways for a person to manage their condition, plus it’s good fun too. We are looking forward to continuing funding more innovative active projects in 2024.”
Before applying, organisations are being asked to carefully read the essential guide for applicants and contact their local Parkinson's UK staff member. The charity also highly recommends using the complete checklist for applicants to help complete applications.
Finally, applicants are encouraged to comple the Parkinson's UK: physical activity and exercise awareness course ahead of making a submission.
