Here at Northumberland Sport we are all about getting more people moving more. We are the strategic lead for physical activity and sport in Northumberland and one of 44 County Sports Partnerships (CSP’s) in England . We are hosted within Northumberland County Council’s Public Health Team.
We are committed to Equality in Sport and work with a variety of partners to ensure equality is at the heart of all physical activity and sport provision across Northumberland.
Our Work Includes:
PE & School Support
Through our Physical Literacy Group we support schools in using sport and physical activity within a whole school approach to supporting wellbeing and through this ensuring children are ready to learn
Coaching
Good coaches inspire people to get active and stay active. Good coaches also guide those on a journey of improvement, including those with talent, to progress faster and further than they could on their own. Additionally, the act of coaching brings individual and personal well being to the coach and the participant as well as making valuable, social and economic contributions to society.
Volunteering
Volunteers have always played a vital part in the physical activity and sport sector. Without them, most community physical activity and sport simply wouldn’t happen. The Government’s strategy for sport and physical activity, Sporting Future, is very clear on the benefits of volunteering to the individual and to the nation, and has encouraged Sport England to examine more closely the experience and benefits of volunteering.
Training
Northumberland Sport has worked with colleagues in the region to create a one stop shop for local coaching workshops. To see what courses are available near you visit www.bookit.org.uk.
School Games
The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. Funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, it is a government led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people.
