Leeds Rhinos Foundation is the official charity of Leeds Rhinos. The charity operates off five pillars, sport, health, education, heritage and arts, to connect and cooperate with the community of Leeds. For the sports pillar, there are a variety of events and projects that are run to increase participation in sport. These events include the Ambassador Festivals, camps and skills sessions for junior players and clubs to develop skills and enjoy their rugby. There has also been the expansion further into growing girl’s participation at clubs, thanks to the success of the women’s first team.
For the health pillar, the Active Beyond Cancer programme, in partnership with Yorkshire Cancer, is exclusive to Leeds Rhinos Foundation as we offer an active cancer recovery programme. There is also the Try Club weight management course and Rhinos Active Social group, which enables over 55s to socialise and exercise, that are run by Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s health team.
In terms of education, Leeds Rhinos Foundation offers a variety of programmes to work with young people and adults across Leeds. Onside works in prisons to prepare offenders for release back into society through learning life skills. There is also the ESOL group which helps adults learn English as a second language as well as Work Club which concentrates on building CVs and job searching for unemployed adults.
