The Croquet Association
A sport for the mind and body

The Croquet Association supports all forms of croquet, from playing in the garden and at local clubs, through to regional and national tournaments and international matches.

Croquet is a summer sport requiring skill, strategy and tactics, suitable for anyone aged 9 to 99, able or disabled, and any background. Similar to snooker but played on grass, you need to get your ball through the six hoops before your opponent, using a mallet to strike the ball. It is a sport for the mind as well as the body. While you are benefitting from gentle outdoor physical exercise, you have to plan your strategy and adapt your tactics when things don’t go your way.

Joining a local club is a great way to make new friends from different backgrounds - there a range of club sessions and competitions to suit your participation level. A number of players have attributed their improved mental health and reduced isolation to playing croquet regularly, and clubs are working with local GP surgeries and social groups to increase awareness of croquet as an activity.
