Beacon Vision is a long-established West Midlands charity that supports people living with sight loss to lead fuller, more independent and active lives. Founded in 1875, the organisation works across Wolverhampton, the Black Country and Staffordshire, providing a wide range of services that promote wellbeing, inclusion and community participation. Beacon supports thousands of people each year through personalised programmes designed to build confidence, independence and social connection.

As an organisation aligned with the principles of sport for change, Beacon recognises the important role that physical activity and wellbeing programmes can play in improving quality of life. Participants can access adapted sports and physical wellbeing activities – including VI (visually impaired) cricket supported by Worcestershire Country Cricket Foundation and mixed sports sessions with Wolves Foundation. They can also access Beacon's adaptive gym facilities; allowing people of all ages and abilities to exercise in a safe and friendly environment. Beacon can provide tailored, supported individual sessions, group sessions or participants can use the gym independently dependent upon needs. The gym consists of a multitude of exercise machines, fully equipped for accessibility, allowing people to rehabilitate, maintain and improve physical health and wellness.

Alongside this, Beacon offers social opportunities, support and community-based sessions that help reduce isolation and improve mental health. The charity’s person-centred approach ensures that people with sight loss can engage in activities that suit their interests, abilities and goals.

Beyond sport and physical activity, Beacon provides employment support, digital skills training, assistive technology advice, low vision services, health and wellbeing programmes, befriending services and accessible transport. The organisation also works with partners, businesses and communities to create a more inclusive society where visual impairment does not limit opportunity.
