Active Suffolk is one of 43 Active Partnerships across England committed to increasing the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.
Active Suffolk works in conjunction with a wide range of partners including local authorities, national governing bodies (NGB's), the education sector, the health sector, charitable/voluntary organisations and third sector organisations to address the worrying levels of inactivity in society and promote sustainable change.
Active Suffolk’s strategic vision is to ‘improve health and wellbeing across Suffolk by inspiring everyone to be more active’. Working towards this strategic vision, Active Suffolk aims to:
- Improve health and wellbeing by increasing participation and reducing inactivity;
- Demonstrate leadership across the sector in order to build insight, infrastructure and capacity;
- Strengthen community social and economic wellbeing across Suffolk.
Active Suffolk is particularly committed to helping inactive people become active by addressing the barriers that people may face within the context of sport and physical activity. Of particular focus are disadvantaged groups; children and young people, women and girls, those with a limiting illness or disability and those from lower socio-economic groups. Active Suffolk is committed to identifying inequalities, promoting positive action to address these and providing everyone with the opportunity to become involved in sport and physical activity at an appropriate level. In doing so, Active Suffolk aims to help make Suffolk England’s Most Active County.
