Sport for development offers “incredible opportunities for collaboration” across and beyond the business community, according to the director of Cardiff City Football Club’s Foundation.

Gavin Hawkey was speaking in an interview with Business News Wales this week to promote the work of the Foundation and encourage more private sector organisations to consider partnerships and getting involved.

The Foundation delivers an estimated annual social impact of around £17.9million, according to its recently-published annual report.

OPPORTUNITIES

Hawkey said: “We’ve often been described as one of the best-kept secrets in the community, but it’s time to share our story more widely. As we continue to build partnerships, particularly with the business community, we see incredible opportunities for collaboration.

“Partnering with the foundation can help businesses engage employees, build teams, raise their profile and deliver social value commitments all whilst making a tangible difference in the lives of those in Cardiff and surrounding areas.”

In the article, the director explained how the foundation focuses on a ‘hat-trick’ of goals, which are i) improving health and wellbeing; ii) supporting learning and skills development, and iii) strengthening communities.
