Switch up selected as club's charity of the year

Nottingham-based sport for development organisation Switch Up has been selected as the official charity partner of the year by the city’s ice hockey club.

The logo of Switch Up, which provides support to disadvantaged young people and families in communities affected by crime and violence, will feature on Nottingham Panthers’ kit for the 2025/26 season.

The charity’s work targets those individuals who are in need of intervention and have become disengaged with society, are vulnerable and at risk of radicalisation, homelessness, crime and may have experienced trauma and poverty.

Through sport, mentoring and personal development, it improves the mental and physical wellbeing of young people to provide the confidence and motivation to re-engage with education, training and employment and realise their true potential.

Dr Marcellus Baz BEM, founder and CEO of Switch Up, said: "We are incredibly proud and humbled that Switch Up has been chosen as the charity of the year with the Nottingham Panthers for the 25-26 season.

“This partnership is a powerful reflection of what can be achieved when a city stands in solidarity to support its most vulnerable. Using our award-winning ‘five pillar’ model, we help young people transform their lives and move into education, training and employment.

"With the backing of the Panthers - and the wider Nottingham community - we can deepen our impact, inspire real change and build a brighter, more hopeful future for all. A heartfelt thank you to the Panthers and everyone involved. Together, we are showing what’s possible when compassion, community and action come together.”
