GoodGym is a community of runners who get together, run and complete tasks in their surrounding area. Tasks can range from planting trees, painting community centres to helping food banks, each week the task is different! GoodGym also offers missions to runners to help with one off tasks for elderly people. These can range from changing light bulbs, gardening to supporting elderly people being discharged from hospital.
In addition to the weekly group runs in 46 areas nationwide, GoodGym volunteers can choose to be paired with an isolated older person and commit to a weekly social visit, which has proven to reduce loneliness, improve wellbeing and 98% considered their runner a friend. GoodGym runners have carried out more than 100,000 good deeds to help older people and community organisations in the UK and is continuing to Do Good and Get Fit.
GoodGym has received funding from the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
