ConnectSport CIC is proud to be supporting the new ‘Sport for Change’ category at the forthcoming British Sports Journalism Awards co-ordinated by the Sports Journalists’ Association (SJA).
The SJA runs two annual awards each year; the British Sports Awards each December, and the British Sports Journalism Awards each Spring.
Since 2018, ConnectSport has been helping to manage and oversee the ‘Sport for Change’ category at the Sports Awards with the Clean Water Sports Alliance being announced as the latest winner at an event at Parliament in December.
Now, for the first time, the SJA in partnership with ConnectSport will present an award to a local or national sports journalist who has been nominated for their coverage of key social and environmental issues throughout 2024.
The awards ceremony will take place in London on March 24.
The award citation from the SJA read: “This award recognises the best portfolio of work focusing on social and environmental issues. Judges will be looking for journalism that shines a light on inequality, diversity and inclusion, and environmental challenges.”
The deadline for entries in this category closed this week, with nominations having been received from across written media, broadcast media, and a combination of both, for the inaugural ‘Sport for Change’ journalism award.
